ARMIN CSIZMADIA

My work explores the expressionism of aesthetics,
stories, and atmospheres that inspire me. I specialize in printmaking, often blending digital planning in Photoshop with traditional mediums like charcoal, graphite, and paint. I’m particularly drawn to the unexpected outcomes of printmaking, which align with my expressive style.

I am passionate about the intersection of science and art, particularly the fusion of psychology and neuroscience with creative practice. Recently, I’ve begun creating multisensory pieces that combine visuals with scent, a direction I aim to pursue further.

PROJECT RAZZMATAZZ- printmaking induction

Project RAZZMATAZZ is an art project which was inspired by an experience at a venue in Barcelona. It explores youth, aesthetic of street culture, belonging, and escapism to a film like iconic scene.

Why do I do it:
I was inspired by the look of the Sala Razzmatazz, especially the smoking area. It is a club that is set up in an old, abandoned factory building, with a style that mixes brutalist architecture through bold concrete surfaces and structures, with minimalist aspects such as neon lights, creating a cyberpunk, street style, aesthetic in a mediterranean town known for its youthful art and people. I am greatly inspired by street style, especially in Barcelona where many of the street artworks are hidden and are unique such as stickers and graffities. I liked the way the Barcelona street style mixed with the brutalist architecture and the neon lights. The very bright very vivid light was in opposition with the grim, bold building therefore creating a cyberpunk, futuristic atmosphere. It felt like I was still on the streets but I am safe and everyone is there to have fun and be inspired (as it was holiday season)
Guests who attended to this venue came in groups, were mostly Spanish or international, however all of them were friendly and welcoming who enjoyed to be at the venue, creating an atmosphere where everyone belonged. As I stood in the smoking area looking at the lights, listening to the people talking and laughing while sitting on the fence, I had the thought that I want to be the person creating these kinds of venues. A creative director that who figures out the styles to mix, what music to play, and what visual effects to use.

How will I do it: I will explore this theme through screen-printing. Through screen-printing my work can relate to prints, posters and stickers visible on streets, while the final effect will be a bit destructed which is an effect I really like, while it resembles the aesthetic of brutalism through bold textures. In screen-printing I can also capture bright elements resembling neon lights through the use of neon colours.
Through printing I can explore different mediums to print on such as textile or paper types.
In the end I want my print to look young, “cool”, and capture the Barcelonan street style. I will create digital collages that I will screenprint in the end.

escalator- captures an essence of streetlife and nightlife in a big city. It is always a beginning to walk towards the stairs with seeing thelight at the end of the tunnel. going up it a preparatory process to what is coming which in this case was the best clubbing night of my life.

Bag 1: McDonalds Bag: With project Razzmatazz I aimed to capture youth, street culture and an aesthetic I liked. For this I used the technique I learned from the “Invader” which is bringind art down to the level of the average person walking on streets. I reached for a paper bag as a medium to print on since it is very relevant to partying, youth and the treets. It also captures how we integrated into barcelona as young travellers with my friends when going to explore the night life, as we didnt eat in traditional places but rather went to mcdonalds in the evening- which funny enough is just what a local would do when going cloubbing.

Poster 1: Poster idea for street art. This work is in progress as I am having difficulty on what I shoudl do with the blue area. I want to capture the essence of barcelona and I would like to do that through sticker art however I did not figure out how I would incorporate that as I dont just want to stick it on the top.
